St Elizabeth farmers arrested in ganja bust
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police have reported that two men have been arrested and charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act in connection with the seizure of approximately 100 pounds of ganja in the Round Hill district in St Elizabeth on Saturday, March 10.
Charged are 48-year-old, Dean Ricketts and 48-year-old Anthony Braham, both farmers of Round Hill district in the parish.
The men were charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and conveyance of ganja.
Reports are that about 6:00 pm an operation was carried out in Round Hill district during which a Toyota motor car was intercepted and searched. The search yielded seven plastic bags containing approximately 100 pounds of ganja.
Ricketts and Braham were arrested; the car and the drugs were seized. The illegal drugs have an estimated street value of J$400,000.
Ricketts and Braham are scheduled to appear before the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Wednesday, March 14.
