SINGER and Glenmuir High School alumni dBURNZ turned in a welcome performance at his alma mater’s fourth Annual Fund-raising Brunch held at the east lawn of Devon House in St Andrew last Sunday.

“It was a phenomenal feeling to be invited back for the 60th anniversary. That feeling of love from my alma mater is beyond compare. To know that I’ve left and that my talent and my contribution are still worth something to the school is a great feeling,” he told the Jamaica Observer after his set.

dBURNZ closed off what was a tight entertainment package. His performance saw him interacting with the audience.

“There were people that were here ages before me and some of my peers are here, so it was good to see them,” he explained.

He had the females singing along as he did his version of Bob Marley’s Wait In Vain, along with a quick medley of Buju Banton favourites such as Hills And Valleys, Untold Stories, and Destiny.

The highlight of his performance was an impromptu duet with Glenmuir High old boy Dr Omar Davies. The two hammed it up while singing Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam.

Before dBURNZ, it was Glenmuir alumna, Jhenelle Lewis, that got things going. Admittedly not well, she still managed to easily capture the attention of the audience with a short set consisting of three songs.

Lewis and dBURNZ ushered the launch of the school’s theme for this year, ‘Glenmuir at 60’. The occasion themed Black Panther, saw guests dressed in African regalia.
