Fish Pot — Sovereign Centre’s New Catch

The 20th Staging Of The Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards: This Evening

Thursday Food satisfied its seafood cravings recently at the new Fish Pot Fry Fish Shop outlet, Rainforest Seafoods’ wholly owned fast food subsidiary, and with perfect timing too; they’ve just expanded the menu offerings.

With a turnaround time of under five minutes, the third location at Shop 9a, inside Sovereign Centre, is rapidly becoming a crowd favourite, and a welcome addition for Fish Pot regulars. “Speed of service is very important to us, and we have invested in new equipment and systems to reduce customer wait time,” Rainforest Seafoods Business Development Manager Benjamin Jardim shared.

The Fry Fish Shop, which has been redefining how Jamaicans enjoy seafood, since the 2012 opening of its first location off Half-Way- Tree Road, offers a wide range of always fresh and delicious seafood dishes, prepared in-house and delivered in a quick and casual setting, which ensures that seafood favourites such as fried fish and festival or fish and bammy, once predominantly beachside staples, are readily available for walk-in orders. Additionally, parents with toddlers will appreciate the option of a kids meal on the menu — fish sticks paired with fries, a kiddie-sized soda, and an attractive price tag.

Although the new location is notably smaller, measuring approximately 1,100 square ft, the eatery serves up the same big tasting favourites and high-quality customer service that Fish Pot regulars have grown fond of. “It’s the best thing they could do,” noted Fish Pot regular Marjorie Hudson, who usually travels from the University of the West Indies to dine at the Half-Way-Tree location. For her the new location means quicker and easier access to her favourite food spot.

On any given day, menu options include sandwiches, pastas, and salads, notably the escoveitch, grilled fish or curry shrimp variety, shrimp pasta, crispy, escoveitch, or grilled fish sandwiches, shrimp salad, and an array of sides, such as the best-selling salt fish fritters. When Thursday Food dropped in, brown stew fish was the latest addition to the menu.

The new location opens seven days per week, serving patrons on Mondays — Thursdays from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 10:00 am and 11:00 pm, and on Sundays from 12:00 noon- 9:00 pm. “We are looking at delivery options, where we would employ couriers to transport the meals to our clients, but currently alongside the walk-in option, our clients can phone ahead to place their orders and have their personal couriers come in to collect,” Jardim told Thursday Food.

Orders can be phoned in by dialling : (876) 946-2026.
