US must give ‘positive signals’ to avoid trade escalation — France
WHISTLER, Canada (AFP) — France on Saturday urged the United States to send “positive signals” to its European allies and G7 partners to avoid a trade war.
“I want to make it clear… that it is up to the US administration to make the right decisions to alleviate the situation and ease the difficulties,” said French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire at the end of talks by ministers from Group of Seven nations in Whistler, Canada.
“The next week will depend on the decision the administration is ready to take in the next few days and in the next few hours — I’m not talking about weeks ahead,” Le Maire said.
