Cops arrest British man at Sangster airport after reportedly finding 8 ounces of ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have reported that a British man has been arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, after reportedly attempting to smuggle ganja on to his flight at the Sangster International Airport in St James yesterday.
He is 58-year-old Ian Mowbray of Birmingham, England.
He was arrested and charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and attempting to export ganja.
Reports are that about 2:20 pm, Mowbray checked in to board a flight destined to Brussels.
According to the police, a canine detected irregularity in the chute area and his luggage was escorted to the gate area where it was searched.
The lawmen said his luggage was found to contain a false compartment which had a package containing ganja weighing eight ounces. He was arrested and charged.
Mowbray is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Thursday, June 21.
