KINGSTON, Jamaica — The controversy engulfing PetroJam deepened on Monday with news that the three Jamaican members on the board of the oil refinery quit amidst a hailstorm of allegations including nepotism, corporate donations, and contract arrangements, among other things.

A day later the Office of Prime Minister announced that Cabinet had approved the appointment of a new board consisting of Paul Hoo, former chairman of Supreme Ventures Limited, Rosie Pilner, former vice president, Scotia Bank and Wayne Powell, former vice president, Scotia Bank.

On the crime scene, a police constable based in St James was on Thursday arrested after reportedly attempting to sell a motor car which was stolen in Portmore, St Catherine a week earlier.

In sport, hosts Jamaica hoisted the Cricket West Indies Regional Women’s Twenty20 crown after putting in a dogged team effort to defeat Barbados by four runs in Sunday’s nail-biting fifth and final-round match at Sabina Park.
