Jencare promises experience like no other with Skin Bar

Jencare promises experience like no other with Skin Bar

WITH one Skin Bar already opened at their Miramar, Florida, location, plans are now under way to launch another in Jamaica “really soon”, Jencare CEO Peta-Gaye Samuda-Palmer has disclosed.

“Skin Bar is an experience of our skincare,” Samuda-Palmer, daughter of the late Jennifer Samuda, Jencare Skin Farm founder, told the Jamaica Observer. “This is not a packaged, on-a-shelf type of setting. We want our clients to really get into the products, sample them. One is now able to make a decision based on the smell, touch, feel of the product.”

Crediting the origin of the concept to her mother, Samuda-Palmer said it was her mother’s vision to have customers smell, feel and touch the products in-house, adding that by doing so customers would “know without a doubt that this is the product for them”.

“She has always said… persons should be able to ‘glow without compromise’… In thinking of her one night, I pondered how to truly make it an experience where one can be navigated to the different skincare beneficial to him or her. This birthed Skin Bar,” she added.

According to Samuda-Palmer, Jencare’s Skin Bar is already getting rave reviews from clients at its Florida location.

“Our clients are thrilled!” she shared. “We have made our skin care an experience,” she remarked, adding that she could sense her mother smiling because the concept had finally become a reality.

In keeping with Jencare’s philosophy that skincare products should have the best ingredients, as clients should be able to ‘glow without compromise’, Jencare has ensured that the products offered by the Skin Bar are made without carcinogens — substances that lead to cancer.

“Our skincare is free of parabens, phthalates, harsh detergents, heavy metals, synthetic anti-oxidants, and formaldehyde, to name a few,” she said.

Mimicking a bar setting, the Skin Bar will have a variety of skincare products that take on the name of popular cocktails, which is to help clients anticipate the smell of the product. Some of the products include the Moscow Mule Body Butter, Cucumber Mojito, Malibu Pineapple, and Tequila Sunrise, all infused with different fruits, herbs, essential oils, botanical extracts, and other organic ingredients to help clients achieve the best results possible.

Commenting on the importance of using such ingredients, Samuda-Palmer said: “The ingredients are exciting! My mom was a pioneer in the industry and so for me, it is important to always stay ahead. We have enzyme scrubs that smell like pineapples, cucumber, and orange.”

She said, too, that enzymes remove dead skin cells so that “you no longer have to be scrubbing off your skin to achieve the benefits of an exfoliant”.

Additionally, the Skin Bar, which is expected to be the first of its kind in Jamaica, provides Skin Food a product with probiotics that promote skin health, and is gentle enough to be used on the most sensitive skin.

The Jencare CEO said the Skin Bar also offers vegan alternatives for their Skin Food line.

Samuda-Palmer also noted that as the company seeks to expand it offerings both locally and globally, clients, and prospective clients should expect “wonderful things” from Jencare.

“The entire Jencare family is excited at what lies ahead… Passion drives this brand and you will see it,” she stated. “Our story is one of passion, love, hard work, resilience, and, perhaps most importantly, results. Our story is my mom.”

Samuda-Palmer encouraged individuals to practise a healthy skincare regime, which includes a face wash, toner, day cream, night cream, exfoliant, and a mask — noting that exfoliants and masks are never to be used daily.

In the meantime, Samuda-Palmer, who has been the CEO of Jencare for 10 years, advised young entrepreneurs to “share their passion with the world”.

“Never get into a business venture for the money,” she advised. “This is paramount. There must be passion behind any endeavour and you certainly do not have to do what everyone else is doing. Your story is important. When your passion meets your destiny, share it with the world.”
