Let’s Go Dancin’ looks abroad
Promoter Michael Barnett presents the latest in his Let’s Go Dancin’ series tomorrow at Wickie Wackie Beach in Bull Bay, St Andrew.
Along with Stokey Love and Senor Daley, Barnett will ‘spin’ songs for fans of ‘vintage’ music from the 1960s to the 1990s.
But the KOOL 97 FM disc jockey is looking forward to taking the show overseas, in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 13, when Jamaicans celebrate their National Heroes’ Day.
The Atlanta leg of Let’s Go Dancin’ is scheduled for Stoneridge Event Center in the Stone Mountain region, home to thousands of Jamaicans.
“This is the first show we’ll be doing in conjunction with Team USAJA and we’re excited about going to Atlanta because areas like Florida and New York are over-saturated with shows,” Barnett told the Jamaica Observer Splash. “The Atlanta region is home to over a million Caribbean nationals, so we’re not just looking at Jamaicans.”
Let’s Go Dancin’ Atlanta will feature the Fabulous Five Inc band, Gem Myers and DJ Migraine — an Atlanta-based radio personality.
The show has been held four times in New Jersey.
Team USAJA is a group of like-minded Jamaicans who live in the United States and Jamaica. Barnett said they are looking at staging other events in the US, including Startime, the popular oldies series he started in 1988 at Oceana Hotel in Kingston.
