AS promised, Dream Events organisers launched its 2019 Dream Cruise on Friday at Celebrity Playground at Wavz Beach in Negril.

The cruise will set sail from March 10 to 15 from Miami, Florida, to Montego Bay and to The Bahamas capital, Nassau. Over five nights partygoers will have access to 11 parties, including Wet-N-Wild, Bleu Pool Party, Daydreams and a Mardi Gras Masquerade party. There will also be other activities including sports competitions, a movie night, a black tie dinner and “how to be a DJ” seminars.

Celebrity Playground marked the second of 10 events on the Dream Weekend five-day calendar. The weekend began with Dream Live concert the evening before.

Sheinnek Mahabee said she couldn’t miss it for the world. The Negril native has been attending Dream Weekend since its inception.

“I started coming when I was 18 and now I’m 28,” Mahabee told the Jamaica Observer. “It gets better each year; it’s crazy and I love it. I believe I was made for Dream and Dream was made for me!” she continued.

Mahabee and her circle of friends were among hundreds dressed to impress at the red and white-themed event. The party got off to a rainy start and had to break due to the heavy downpour. However, Mother Nature could not put a damper on the vibes as revellers kept on dancing and singing in the rain. From skanking arm in arm as well as “flinging” shoulders with new-found friends, these partygoers had a whale of a time.

The day’s soundtrack would not be possible without music, and the Dream DJs did deliver. DJ Nicco’s set list included some dancehall favourites from the beginning of the genre to this year, and a sizzling soca segment. British-based DJ Face was stacked with dance music and trap music from his territory. JR Chromatic and Paul Michael were also among selectors.

The day ended with pyjama-themed party Twisted Spiritz later that night at Cayenne Beach.

Dream Weekend 2018 concluded yesterday.
