CPL UPDATE: Tallawahs 178-4 vs St Kitts Patriots
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Hosts Jamaica Tallawahs have set St Kitts and Nevis Patriots a target of 179 runs for victory, after posting 178-4 from their allotment in match eight of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 tournament here at Sabina Park.
The Tallawahs, who were asked to take first strike by the Patriots, were given a strong start by Kennar Lewis, who hammered a 24-ball 49 including four boundaries and four sixes.
Lewis partnered with wicketkeeper/batsman Glenn Phillips in a 64-run opening stand which set the tone for the Tallawahs innings. Phillips, who scored a match-winning half century against the St Lucia Stars on Tuesday, contributed 41 from 38 deliveries in a knock which had three sixes and one four.
The experienced Ross Taylor then finished off the innings with an unbeaten 51 off 35 balls, hitting four sixes and two fours.
Young leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the pick of the Patriots bowling with 2-21 from four overs.
