KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Transport Operators Development Sustainable Service (TODSS) is commending the performance of the constabulary’s newly formed traffic team, despite what it says is harassment meted out by some members in the Half Way Tree area.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) recently launched the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), which is aimed at restoring and enhancing public order and safety on the nation’s streets especially in the town centres islandwide.
The entity is a merger of the Motorised Patrol and the Traffic divisions and will comprise of three divisions — the Public Safety, Highway and Safety Patrol and Traffic Enforcement.
“The high visibility and movement of the officers in the Corporate Areas and especially in the areas under road repair and construction has allowed for a free flow of traffic in many areas.
“We must commend the officer under the leadership of SSP Allen and his team and call for a closer working relationship with the Transport Sector for a better traffic management and traffic operation in the KMTR,” TODDS said in a release.
The transport operators noted that despite the problems in some areas, its members pledge to make the best of the challenges to ensure commuters reach to their various destinations.
