Storm watches, warnings discontinued for Isaac
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says all storm watches and warnings for Tropical Storm Isaac have been ended. However, it warned that the threat of heavy rain remains.
In its latest advisory, the Met Service reported that at 4:00 pm, the centre of TS Isaac was located 355 km south-southeast of St Croix or 815 km east-southeast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The storm is said to be moving toward the west near 26 km/h, and this general motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected for the next few days.
Isaac, which is still not a threat to Jamaica, should move farther away from the Lesser Antilles today and then move across the eastern and central Caribbean Sea through the weekend.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 65 km/h with higher gusts and it is forecasted to gradually weaken over the next few days, and could degenerate into a tropical wave during that time.
