CORAZON displayed cutting edge promise with a quickfire performance in a Native-bred Two-Year-Old Graded Stakes event to win the Coca Cola Two-Year-Old Juvenile Sprint on Super Day at Caymanas Park on Saturday.

It was a performance that left title-chasing trainer Anthony Nunes pleased with the display after the bay filly attempted the round course for the first time and completed 1,300 metres with a disciplined time of 1:19.2, under fractions of 22.4 46.2 and 1:11.2.

She showed much promise in only her second official race, so the question is what prospect does she have to develop into a potential high-level performer?

“It was an encouraging performance but she is really bred to sprint and she won her first race over the straight course, although she looked well and delivered a smart performance going six and a half furlongs in her second. y reasoning is that the best that I can expect to get from her is about seven furlongs probably nothing more than that.

“She is nice. She is talented. She did not run against the toughest field although Top Shelf was in there.

The run of I:19.2 is decent time, so let us see where she goes from here.

“ Corazon does project that she has good ability but there are horses out there that she has not yet met, but with time we will be in a better position to judge,” said an expectant Nunes

In the race itself, Corazon ridden by Dick Cardenas went for the lead but was quickly overtaken by Lady Blue (Anthony Thomas).

Cardenas allowed Lady Blue to lead before striking in the straight, easily pulling away for the victory. Tricky One ran on for second with Lady Blue third.
