Final Diamond Mile drills
MOST of the contenders for the 2018 Diamond Mile sponsored by the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission and Supreme Ventures Limited did their final gallops on Sunday morning, November 25, 2018.
The defending champion and current Horse of the Year, She’s A Maneater worked with stablemate Uncle Frank clocking a relatively easy 1:13.2 for six furlongs while Uncle Frank was timed in 1:15.2. Will In Charge was explosive in his final gallop over 5 ½ furlongs. The winner of the Gold Cup and unlucky loser of the Burger King Superstakes galloped 1:06.0 for 5 ½ furlongs also clocking 1:00.0 for five furlongs to underscore his fitness and readiness for the Diamond Mile.
Bigdaddykool, trained by Anthony Nunes who is yet to be confirmed as a certain Diamond Mile starter galloped 5 ½ furlongs with a two-year-old from his stable, a chestnut colt by Nuclear Wayne – Brown Sugar and to the surprise of many was beaten in the gallop by the youngster.
Clockers are reporting that Bigdaddykool was timed in 1:06.4 and the juvenile in 1:06.1. For five furlongs, Bigdaddykool’s time was 59.4 with the two-year-old clocking 59.1. The Nuclear Wayne – Brown Sugar colt is a half- brother to Sweet Trial.
