20,000 names added to voters’ list — ECJ
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) says 20,097 new names have been added to the November 30, 2018 voters’ list, bringing the total number of registered voters in Jamaica to 1,934,860.
ECJ noted that the names of 3,182 people, who are no longer eligible to vote, were removed, including 2,415 electors who have died.
The previous list was published on May 31 with 1,917,945 names.
Identification cards for voters added to the November 30, 2018 voters’ list are scheduled to become available by mid-December and should be collected by electors at their respective Electoral Office of Jamaica constituency office, said ECJ.
The public is also being reminded that voters’ ID cards with a 2017 expiry date are valid until December 31, 2019.
