Accused in Spanish Town welder’s murder to appear in court Tuesday
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A man is appear before the Spanish Town Parish Court on Tuesday, to answer to several charges in relation to the murder of a welder in the community of Dempshire Pen in Spanish Town last month.
The accused, Marlon Bryan otherwise called Marcus, was said to be among of group of men who pounced on the deceased, 53-year-old Lenford Powell otherwise called Ricky, while he was getting ready for work about 6:00 am on November 17.
The group of men reportedly opened gunfire hitting him all over his body, killing him on the spot, after which they made good their escape on foot in the community.
Police say 39-year-old Bryan who is also from the community, was apprehended by members of the St Catherine North Operations Support Team about 9:30 am on the day of the murder.
He was formally charged with the murder of Powell, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, on November 23 after being interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
Two other suspects are being pursued by the investigators but due to investigation protocol their names cannot be released at this time, the police informed.
