Cops seeking ‘Babylon’ in relation to murder in Manchester last night
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The Manchester police are trying to locate a man identified as Orane Anderson, otherwise called ‘Babylon’, as a suspect in one of two murders that took place in the parish last night.
A warrant was reportedly out for his arrest in a case of assault and he has now been linked to the murder of 22-year-old Nicholas Smith.
Police reports are that about 10:00 pm, Smith, who is from Hampton Road in Porus, was walking along Porus main road when he was attacked by two gunmen who shot him several times. He died on the spot.
The police said they have reason to believe Anderson, who is from Trinity district in Porus, is a suspect in the matter but they have not yet identified the second gunman.
The other murder in the parish since the start of the new year, also took place earlier yesterday.
Kevin Timol, 28, was reportedly standing at Smith’s gate on Hampton Road with other persons at about 6:30 pm when a man alighted from a Toyota Probox motorcar and opened gunfire at him. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police believe Timol, who is from Trinity, was trailed from Clarendon where he spent the day and that there may be a connection between his and Smith’s death.
They have not yet ascertained who the suspect is in Timol’s murder.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may be able to assist them with both cases to contact the Porus police at 876-904-1577, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
