Lutan Fyah is proud of the continued growth of his brand of reggae music in the international marketplace. He has amassed an impressive nine million streams on the international music service Spotify.

“Streaming and trending was huge for Lutan Fyah in 2018, I had nine million streams on Spotify in over 65 countries. Spotify notify every day on my numbers so people out there are listening to good reggae music, and the brand is still strong,” said the Rastafari singjay, who has 17 albums to his credit.

Last year, he had gigs in Europe and Africa. On Wednesday, he performed at the annual Bob Marley Birthday celebration held at 56 Hope Road in Kingston. He was backed by the Kaution band.

“It was a nice vibe; the show mad. People love it, I went up after Koffee; it was a joy performing for the people. It had been eight years since I last performed in Kingston, Jamaica,” he said.

Lutan Fyah is currently promoting a video for his new single Fake Friends.

“Well, as an artiste, a lot of people pass through I life that I don’t know in the real sense of knowing someone. That is when you realise some people you consider a friend is not your friend, really. I myself have been through a lot when it come to plastic people who come around for the pictures or maybe get a chance to fly out, while being a part of the team. Most of them or none of them is around now, but real friends are for a lifetime,” he said.

The single appears on the Ireland Records imprint.

He is working on the release of his 18th album, which has a summer release date.
