Dannareo Fearon, principal of DF Productions, says his newly opened studio is aimed at giving up-and-coming deejays a voice in the highly competitive dancehall arena.

“I decided to open the studio primarily because I realised that there was nothing of its kind in central Jamaica. Persons would have to leave places like Mandeville, May Pen, and Old Harbour to travel to Kingston in order to get a quality studio with a rehearsal space. So I decided to put one in Clarendon [Mineral Heights]. Also, I thought this would have been a great asset to the people of Clarendon who are serious about pursuing their musical career,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Launched on February 9, the 24-year-old, who teaches music at Knox College and Spalding High, said he inherited his love for music from his father.

“My love for music started from I was about three years old, where I was fascinated with the drums, it was a natural gift from God. I’d normally play at church and from there the love grew. My father who is a guitarist taught me what he knew on the keyboard and I practised my way up to this point,” he said.

The studio offers mixing, mastering, recording, commercial production, jingle, dub and audio-book services and acts as a rehearsal space.

Fearon, who now plays the keyboard, bass, lead guitar and drums has associated with notable artistes.

“I’ve played for and worked with various artistes, including international gospel recording artiste Kenny Robinson, DJ Nicholas, Kevin Heath, Jodian Pantry, Keesha Peart, Howard Brown, Orville Sutherland and many others,” he stated.

Despite his Christian background, the producer welcomes all musicians.

“All genres are welcomed as long as the music is conscious and promotes positivity,” he added.
