#Champs2019: Tina Clayton clocks record 11.27 in Class 3 100m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The impressive Edwin Allen duo of Tina and Tia Clayton set the Class Three girls’ 100m alight with a one-two finish at the 109th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Tina, who was expected to trail home her sister, won the event, clocking a new record of 11.27 lowering 11.50 set by Shauna Helps of Wolmer’s Girls in 2012. It was clocked in a positive 1.4 metres per second wind reading and was the ninth record of the championship.
Tia was second in 11.60 with St Jago’s Brianna Lyston third in 11.61.
Meanwhile, Sashauna Smith of Vere Technical won the girls’ Class four event in 12.28 ahead of Abigail Wolfe (12.39) of Holy Childhood and Immaculate Conception’s Toniann Bryan (12.48).
