As the Jamaican carnival season nears its peak, some revellers are already crowning Bacchanal Jamaica as the entity for the premiere experience.

“I will definitely be jumping with Bacchanal this year because it is the best band! Bacchanal is the reason carnival exists in Jamaica and I’ve been with them for the past 20 years,” realtor Anne Marie Stewart told the Jamaica Observer on Friday night.

“Jumping” refers to the road march throughout designated routes in the Corporate Area.

Stewart was one of hundreds at Bacchanal and Dancehall held at Mas Camp in St Andrew.

Disc jocks Tyler, Creep Chromatic, Bishop Escobar, and Lord Hype provided the evening’s musical selections.

A director of Bacchanal Jamaica, Michael Ammar Jr, said he was pleased with this year’s crowd.

“It’s, at least, as successful [in comparison to previous years] but I think it is a bigger crowd. It is impressive,” he told the Observer.

The principals of Bacchanal Jamaica said they have been ramping up their social media presence to amass more support for their events.

“I think it’s the promotion. We use a lot more social media, we advertise… We just put a lot more effort into it. Plus, we have two weeks between our last event, and I think that’s the biggest thing for me,” he explained.

Overseas guests were also expressing their love for the 20-year-old soca band.

“I don’t usually come to Jamaica for carnival. But this year, I will definitely be jumping with Bacchanal. I think it’s so cool,” said Guatemalan George Alvarado.

Teacher, Natalie Davis, said she keeps coming back to Bacchanal Jamaica events because it has the best vibes.

“Bacchanal tells you right out that we’re not the biggest, but we’re the best band,” Ammar Jr added.

Bacchanal Jamaica’s next event is Beach J’Ouvert at Grizzy’s Plantation Grove in St Ann on Saturday, April 20, 2019.
