Defending champs Catherine Hall All-Stars off to winning start
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Last season’s semi-finalists Holland Saints will take on Lucea Flames at the Montego Bay Cricket Club today, starting at 7:00 pm as the Western Basketball Association Elite League continues with one game.
The league got under way on Saturday with a double-header where last season’s champions Catherine Hall All-Stars and losing finalists Cricket Club Knights scored contrasting wins over Montego Bay Boys Club Warriors and Sav-Elite Titans, respectively.
Catherine Hall All-stars came from behind to edge promoted Montego Bay Boys Club Warriors by one point, 73-72, while Cricket Club Knights beat Sav-Elite Titans at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Eight teams will take part in this shortened season that will be completed before the JABA National Basketball League gets under way in June.
The teams will play each other once before a quarter-final round that would see teams facing each other in a best-of-three series with the winners of the four series meeting in a best-of-three semi-finals.
Former champions Granville Jaguars and Cornwall Courts Chargers Lucea Flames who will meet on Thursday, will also take part.
