32-y-o St James man arrested for lotto scamming
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A St James man has been charged with Possession of Identity Information with Intent following an operation by the Lottery Scam Task Force (LSTF) in the parish on Thursday, April 18, the police are reporting. A female was also taken into custody on reasonable suspicion for Possession of an Access Device in a separate incident, the police added.
Charged is 32-year-old Jermaine Brown, otherwise called ‘Jail Bud’, of Montego West Village in the parish.
According to information received from the LSTF, several searches were carried out in neighbouring St James communities between 1:20 pm and 5:45 pm. A search of the premises occupied by Brown revealed one cellular phone and several Microsoft Excel documents containing identity information of people residing overseas. Brown was arrested and charged. A court date is not yet ascertained.
In the other incident a premises was searched on Leaders Avenue in Montego Bay during which a female was found in possession of a United States of America Bank Visa debit card. She was unable to give satisfactory account for same and was arrested, the police said.
