After a devastatingly superb run in deep stretch, the Tainiya Kerr owned Another Bullet (Nasheet – Wisely Noted) got up in time to upset his more fancied rivals in the $1.3 million Lady Geeta Trophy feature at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Trained by Patrick Lynch and ridden by apprentice Reyan Lewis, the ageing (seven-years-old) but ever improving Another Bullet came from behind a scorching hot pace to beat Chace The Great (Trevor Simpson) by three parts of a length at upsetting odds of 27-1.

Will In Charge (Robert Halledeen), the reigning Horse of the Year who was making his seasonal debut, was third with She’s A Maneater (Omar Walker), who was an absolute no-show, eventually finishing fourth in the Graded Stakes event for three-year-olds and upward over six furlongs (1200m).

Will In Charge was the first to show on the lead but about half-a-furlong after leaving the starting gates, Chace The Great surged through to take up the running ahead of Will In Charge in second and Money Magnet (Christopher Mamdeen) in third spot.

Chace The Great, in an attempt to steal a march on his five rivals, began to open up on the field running the half-mile and looked strong entering the lane with a good-looking enough lead over Will In Charge, Money Magnet and She’s A Maneater, who looked flat-footed on the outside and completely out of it.

Not too far behind, Another Bullet was produced by Lewis and the seven-year-old bay horse, despite his growth in years, started to motor on the inside rails to get by Chace The Great for back-to-back wins.

After fast splits of 22.3 and 45.0, the final time was recorded at 1:11.3 which was just two-fifths of a second slower than the Stakes record of 1:11 1 set by Temperence Oaks 22 years ago.

“I just followed the trainer’s instructions. He (Patrick Lynch) told to keep Another Bullet off the pace and move with two furlongs to go and that is exactly what I did and it paid off so well in the end.

“I am very, very happy with this win and I really thank the connections for having the trust in me to give me the ride,” an elated Reyan Lewis said in his post-race interview.

Apprentices Christopher Mamdeen, Kiaman McGregor and Raddesh Roman won two races each to share the riding honours, while trainer Errol Waugh saddle two winners for honours among the trainers.

Mamdeen continued his recent amazing run when he won aboard Superbolt in the first race for Waugh and Chief of State in the third race for trainer Spencer Chung.

McGregor was successful with Makhi in the seventh race for trainer Phillip Lee and Black River in the eighth race for trainer Lance Richards.

Roman got his wins aboard Burlin in the second race for trainer Cashbert Khwalsingh and Enedina in the ninth race for breeder, owner and trainer Lorenzo Robinson.

Waugh’s second winner was Golden Destiny (Shavon Townsend) in the seventh race. First race has a post time of 12:10 with the feature being the Easter Sprint over 5 1/2 furlongs.

It was a hot and suffocating day for punters as Paintthistownred at 39-1, Another Bullet at 27-1 and Enedina at 15-1 combined to ensure massive carry-overs when racing resumes on Easter Monday (April 22). Paintthistownred also provided female rider, Natalie Berger with a rare victory.

The popular Twilight-6 has a carry-over of close to $2.5 million and the Pick-9 close to $1.6 million.
