Knibbs takes lead in Alliance National Amateur Golf Champs
On day one of the Alliance National Amateur Golf Championships, Jamaica’s elite golfers in the Men 0-6 category got off to a competitive start with national representatives out in front.
William Knibbs copped a one-stroke lead over a three-way second-place tie among Zandre Roye, Romaine Evans, and Owen Samuda. All three ended their first round with 74. Wayne Chai Chong currently lies fifth with 75.
Tristan Brown and Justin Murray carded identical scores of 79 for their first round in the Men 7-12 group. Paul Leyow is third with 81. In the Men 13+ category, Kristian Chin ended the day with a score of 83.
Jodi Munn-Barrow played steady golf to finish one over par on 73. Kei Harris is second with 77. Both women are also part of Jamaica’s national squad.
The Super Seniors will be out in full force today for the start of their three-day competition. The group also includes senior team members such as Michael Bradford, Jamaica Golf Association President Peter Chin, Robert Chin, and George Hugh.
The tournament is sponsored by Alliance Investment Management Limited. Tee times start at 7:30 am.
