Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB)/RJR captured their ninth title of the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) Basic Schools Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

The Beechwood Avenue-based CAB/RJR, who finished third overall last year, reclaimed their title by totalling a combined score of 163.5. The Julian Russell-coached team won the 28-event championship ahead of Hope Valley Experimental (102 points), followed by Joy Town Learning and Laura’s basic School, who were jointl third with 94 points each. Dethroned champions Providence Heights Infant (81 points) completed the top five.

Samir McLarty of Laura’s Basic was the champion boy with 18 points, while Destiny Crewe of CAB/RJR, and Anastasia Riley of Lalyce Gray were joint champion girls with 16 points each.

During action on the track, Dontae Morgan of Central Branch won the Class One boys’ 80m dash in 12.16, with Destiny Crewe topping the girls’ Class One event in 12.88.

The Class Two boys’ 60m was won by Samir McLarty (10.85) of Laura’s Basic, while Crisan Allen of Ardenne Prep won the girls’ Class Two event in 10.41.

Sean Silvera from Joy Town captured the Class Three boys’ 30m dash in 6.47 seconds, with the girls’ event going to Chrisanya Anderson of Joy Town, who crossed the line in 6.50.

Jeovanni Dacres won the Class One boys’ 60m obstacle race in 12.16, with Abigail Knight-Brown of CAB/RJR finishing tops in the girls’ event in a time of 13.21.

McLarty of Laura’s returned to claim the’ Class Two boys’ 50m obstacle race in 12.33 with Shanaeja Stewart from CAB/RJR winning the girls’ race in 12.91.

Hope Valley Experimental captured the Class One boys’ 4x50m relay final in a time of 36.58, while the girls’ section went to Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB)/RJR in a time of 37.50.

The Class Two boys 4x50m relay final was won by CAB/RJR in 39.16 and Laura’s basic won the girls’ Class Two event in 39.62, while Joy Town Learning (23.38) and CAB/RJR (25.47) won the boys’ and girls’ Class Three 4x25m relays, respectively.

Meanwhile, Hope Valley Experimental (1:10.91) and Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB)/RJR (1:13.61), won the boys’ and girls’ 4x100m open relays, respectively.
