US tourist bitten by shark in The Bahamas
NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – A 32 year old tourist from the United States was airlifted to New Providence late Thursday following an incident in which he was bitten by a shark.
The police report that around 5:30pm (local time) the man, whose name has not been disclosed, was an occupant on board a 41foot Bahama Craft along with two other Americans.
They went snorkeling in the waters off Nippers Beach on the islet of Guana Cay when the man was bitten by a shark.
The police and medical personnel respond and transported the injured man to the nearby Marsh Harbour Clinic where he was treated for his injuries.
He was then transported via an emergency flight to New Providence for further medical treatment.
The attack comes just a week after a 21-year-old woman from the US died after she was attacked by three sharks on another island in The Bahamas.
