Slow down, ‘Mr Forward’!
Dear Editor,
Many of us are wondering just what has got into People’s National Party (PNP) Vice-President Damion Crawford.
The youth, in particular, are ready to go “Forward with Crawford”, but his utterances are becoming a turn-off.
Firstly, he may have very well cost himself the by-election in Portland Eastern by spoiling a good speech when he went ‘off course’. When he exited stage left, the conversation was less about his plans for the constituency and more about his attacks on his opponent. This sparked accusations of colourism and sexism.
Now, here we are again amidst his party’s presidential race and “Mr Forward” is at it again. For one, he has made a mockery of one PNP candidate’s physique, by bringing it up himself, giving the media fodder to do polls and cartoons about it.
Then he accused the challenger, Peter Bunting, of not supporting him in Portland Eastern, only to have social media users respond with imagery to the contrary. Now, we have the politicising of a so-called protest against corruption. In a Facebook post, he noted, “I’m sticking with the Peter that walked Portland to win it…and the Peter that showed up for a PNP activity this morning.” PNP activity? I thought it wasn’t a political protest.
Could the more experienced hierarchy of this noble political movement rein him in before he self-destructs?
P J Patterson, the slowest-talking politician we know, could teach him a thing or two about measuring and counting his utterances. We want to go forward, but please slow down!
