Police seize illegal firearm in St James, man charged

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Police say a man has been arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, following a seizure on the Mount Pellier main road in St James on Wednesday.

In custody is 46-year-old Lloyd Parkins of Galloway district, Bethel Town in Westmoreland.

According to police reports, lawmen were conducting a vehicular check point operation in the area about 9:30 pm when Parkins was signalled to stop his vehicle.

After lawmen searched his Toyota Voxy motorcar, a .38 Taurus Revolver, with six .38 rounds of ammunition was discovered and subsequently seized.

Parkins is scheduled to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court on Tuesday.
