OMG! Crocs might be bad for your feet
Some people say they’re ugly, and they probably are. But Crocs are here to stay. The only problem is that they might be bad for your feet.
More than 300 million pairs have been sold worldwide. Adults love them, and kids adore them. They’re perfect for running errands, going to the beach or just lounging around.
However, doctors believe that the affordable and now trendy footwear could lead to health issues.
“Unfortunately Crocs are not suitable for all-day use,” Dr Megan Leahy, a Chicago-based podiatrist with the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, told HuffPost recently.
Leahy said
that Crocs do not adequately support the heel although they offer some amount
of arch support.
“When the
heel is unstable, toes tend to grip which can lead to tendinitis, worsening of
toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses. The same thing can happen
with flip flops or any backless shoes as the heel is not secured,” she
said.
Another medical practitioner, Dr Alex Kor, the president of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, said that Crocs are only OK for patients who have very high arches or those who suffer from excessive edema of their legs and ankle.
BUZZ fam, now that you’ve heard the ugly truth, will you be throwing out your Crocs?
