Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will be looking to continue their impressive showing in the Caribbean Football Union Women’s Olympic Qualifiers on Friday (Oct 4) when they tackle Barbados at the National Stadium at 6:30 pm.

It will be the second of two matches, as the US Virgin Islands will tackle Cuba in the day’s opener at 4:00 pm.

The Reggae Girlz started their campaign on Monday with a 12-1 drubbing of neighbours Cuba and are expected to once again be in top form against Barbados. They are looking to top the Group B of the CFU round, to

qualify for a spot in the CONCACAF round of the qualifiers, where they will

join giants the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Also joining the CONCACAF round will be the winners of the two other CFU groups as well as the qualifiers from Central America. The Reggae Girlz currently lead Group B on goal difference

that is 11, which places them ahead of St Lucia with a goal difference of

negative two, Barbados with negative four and Cuba with negative six.

All are on three points with one victory as the group’s other participants, the US Virgin Islands, are pointless. Jamaica and the US Virgin Islands have played one match, with the other teams in the group playing two.

Four-goal hero against Cuba, Cheyna Matthews is expected to be among the players taking the fight to Barbados. This should also include Tiffany Cameron who scored two goals, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Trudi Carter, captain Konya Plummer, Dominique Bond-Flasza and Allyson Swaby.
