Sagicor donates over $1.5 million to underprivileged youth at motivational seminar
Ten young men from underprivileged circumstances were each presented with grants of $150,000 each during a special luncheon hosted for them by Sagicor Group Jamaica during the company’s final day of its Sagicor Motivational Seminar (SMS) yesterday.
The youth, who were selected from Sarah’s Children charity programme out of Montego Bay, and Our Sons initiative in Kingston, were treated to an intimate luncheon at Iberostar Hotel where they got the opportunity to have one-on-one interaction with SMS closing speaker, American comedian and TV show host Steve Harvey as well as Sagicor executives.
The monies raised for the boys were primarily through contributions from Sagicor team members and other donors.
“The charity component of SMS is geared towards giving back to those less fortunate, inspiring youth and building our nation,” Sagicor said in a news release.
Harvey, who arrived in Jamaica Friday afternoon for the event, is popularly known as the host of the cable TV game show Family Feud as well as his own show — The Steve Harvey Morning Show.
The seminar is a biennial motivational conference held over three days to inspire and engage Sagicor team members. It features local, regional, and international speakers sharing powerful and impactful stories to reignite passion among the sales force and the company’s support service.
