Popcaan and Davido team up for ‘Risky’
International dancehall artiste Popcaan and Nigerian
entertainer Davido have released a track called Risky.
The music video, which was directed by Meji Alabi,
started as a short film showing the contrast between the Nigerian and Jamaican
cultures. The video also mimicked scenes from the UK’s Top Boy series.
The song was done on an afrobeat rhythm with a slower
tempo with Popcaan doing a singjay style in patois that is complemented by Davido’s
Nigerian Pidgin English.
Although it was released less than a day ago, Risky has already accumulated more than 700,000 views on YouTube.
“Nigerian and Jamaican conversing is magic [several
laughing emoji] the accents are tops,” one viewer commented.
“Feel like I’m watching Top Boy with dope a*s
music in the background [fire emoji],” another added.

This won’t be the first time Davido and Popcaan have linked
up for a track. In 2017, they collaborated for the first time on a track,
titled My Story, which has been viewed more than three million times. Dun
Rich was the second track they did together. Popcaan travelled to Lagos,
Nigeria, to shoot the music video.
