Clarendon College will play in the final of the Champions Cup schoolboy football competition as they knocked out defending champions Cornwall College on Saturday with a 2-0 victory in the semifinals at the National Stadium.

Clarendon,

holders of the rural area, daCosta Cup title, dominated Cornwall for the entire

match with Roderick Granville getting a brace as he scored in the 54th

and 68th minutes and substitute Tahjay Williams finding the back of

the net in the 88th.

The first half was mainly Clarendon, as they kept possession of the ball and attacked Cornwall constantly, but failed to score although creating some good opportunities.

Clarendon

also started the second half on the attack and got the go-ahead goal, when Omar

Reid’s long throw into the penalty box, from the left, was poorly handled by

the defence. The ball bounced favourably for Granville, who fired into the

goal.

Jaland Larmard provided Granville with an excellent through ball, and the latter, cutting in from the right, outpaced his marker to beat the Cornwall custodian and push Clarendon further ahead.

The third goal had Reid, from the left, crossing inside and Cornwall’s defence once again failed to handle properly, and it found Steve McCooty on the far side, on the fringes of the six-yard box. He passed the ball back to Williams, who tapped past the custodian.
