Businessman, two taxi operators among six charged in St Ann ganja bust
ST ANN, Jamaica — A businessman and two taxi operators are among six men who have been charged in relation to offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act in Exchange, Ocho Rios, St Ann on Wednesday, November 13.
Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and taking preparatory steps to export ganja are 53-year-old Rueben Simpson, a businessman, 60-year-old Maxfield Mignott, 44-year-old Desmond Gordon, a taxi operator, 63-year-old farmer Desmond Gordo, 31-year-old Ricardo West and 56-year-old Stanley Morris, a taxi operator, all of a St Ann address.
Reports are that about 4:00 pm, lawmen were on operation in the when the saw the men removing the illicit drug from a premises. They were subsequently arrested. The drug weighed approximately 1,113.46 pounds and has an estimated street value of $4.5 million, the police said.
The six men are scheduled to appear before the St Ann Parish Court on Friday.
