Jampro encourages local companies to use services
President of Jamaica Promotions Corporation (Jampro) Diane Edwards is encouraging local companies to take full advantage of Jampro’s range of services to drive investment and trade in Jamaica.
“More than 2,000 people walk through Jampro’s doors each year for general support, and we want to see more Jamaicans coming to us for the range of services we offer. We believe that there are many local business entities who can benefit from our support and can contribute to Jamaica’s economic growth, so we invite them to call us or come in to Jampro’s offices to access services that will be beneficial for their business,” Edwards was quoted in a press release.
According to her, while Jampro facilitates both local and international investors, the agency also provides services to the local business community which needs general support, such as industry and market opportunity analysis, exporter and investor readiness assessments, and training sessions. In the last year, support was provided for over 600 companies that engaged Jampro for export and other business development services.
Edwards further indicated that besides the agency’s general advocacy activities to make it easier to do business, Jampro’s clients receive assistance to realise their business goals. This includes market intelligence sharing, customised market information, business-to-business matchmaking, business approvals and site selection facilitation, and targeted client support.
In addition, the agency provided business support for a number of recent multimillion-dollar local investments and export projects, including the Eight Rivers energy project in Westmoreland, the Amaterra Group hotel development project in Trelawny, and Scotch Boyz — a local manufacturer of a line of sauces. Edwards said she wants other Jamaicans to join these already existing Jampro clients on their business journey.
Jampro, an agency of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, also recently called for new investment projects to be promoted for local and international investment. This is all a part of Jampro’s mission to drive economic development through growth in investment and export, by generating activity that will create jobs and increase the flow of capital in the economy.
