The opening of the January transfer window can’t come quick enough for new Molynes United coach Calvert Fitzgerald and Chairman Eurado Cornwall try to stop the haemorrhaging as the club plummets down the table.

Molynes United gained promotion to the Red Stripe Premier League this season and created a modern-day record by winning their first six games as a new club in topflight football. It led the standing with maximum of 18 points. But since then they have not tasted victory again. Molynes United lost eight of their last 10 games and have dropped rapidly down the table into the eighth spot with 20 points. Their 0-2 defeat to Portmore United was their fifth consecutive loss and Fitzgerald, who took control after previous coach Lijyasu Simms resigned, was losing his second straight game.

“If we can’t get these guys scoring then we have to go into the market [transfer] to see if we can find some other players who can get the ball across the goal line. That’s basically where the team is going wrong,” said Fitzgerald.

The transfer market opens in January where clubs can bring in new players to their teams.

“I thought we played well and I also thought we created more goalscoring opportunity than Portmore but getting the ball into the back of the net seems to be a major worry. So if I am brought in to solve it then we just have to find a way to solve it,” said Fitzgerald.

Molynes United Chairman Eurado Cornwall is in agreement with his coach. “We have a coach that is very competent and whatever the recommendation he makes we are prepared to work with it. I always have the scouting side of it and I believe that is my strength and I have identified two players so far that can bring value to our stock that we have,” he added.
