Section of Norbrook Drive in Kingston to be closed this weekend
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) says a section of Norbrook Drive, in the vicinity of Norbrook Spring in Kingston, will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday.
The NWA said the closure, which will be between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm is to facilitate the construction of a concrete slab as part of rehabilitative works being undertaken at the location.
The agency said the slab is being done as part of efforts to the section of roadway less susceptible to damage from stormwater flows.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw said that following the closure on Saturday, the road will only be accessible to single lane traffic for the next 10 days.
He said that the additional period of closure is to allow the concrete to cure. The roadway is expected to be fully reopened by Wednesday, May 20.
During the closure, persons wishing to access Waterworks Road, Way and Crescent; Norbrook Terrace, or the western side of the Norbrook Ford should make their approach from the Manor Park area.
For persons wishing to access Norbrook and its environs, Cherry Gardens, Russell Heights etc, the approach should be made from Olivier Road.
The NWA is urging motorists to exercise caution in the area, during the period of closure, and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
