Jamaica records highest daily COVID deaths; 821 new cases
Jamaica recorded its
highest daily virus fatalities and its second highest number of infections over
the past 24 hours.
The country recorded 13
deaths and 821 cases for totals of 507 and 32,728 respectively.
According to the
Ministry of Health and Wellness, the new positives include 477 females and 344
males ranging from one day to 95 years old.
Those results were
returned from 2,720 tests for a positivity rate of 38.3 per cent.
Among the
deceased are a 56-year-old female
from Kingston and St Andrew; a 73-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew;
an 86-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew; a 46 year old female from
Kingston and St Andrew; a 50-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew; a 61-year-old
female from Kingston and St Andrew; a 79-year-old female from Kingston and St
Andrew; a 78-year-old male from St Elizabeth; a 62-year-old male from St
Elizabeth; an 81-year-old female from St Thomas; a 71-year-old male from St
Thomas; a 59-year-old female from St Thomas and a 26-year-old female from St
Catherine
There were also 102 more
recoveries, for a total of 15,473. Active cases increased to 16,513.
There are 371
hospitalisations with 29 patients in a critical state while 24 are moderately
ill.
