68 new COVID cases, two more deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica recorded an additional 68 coronavirus infections on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
This pushed the total number of confirmed cases on the island since the outbreak to 49,909.
The new cases comprise 45 females and 23 males with ages ranging from one to 94 years.
The ministry said 21 of the cases were recorded in St Ann, 13 in St Catherine, eight each in Kingston and St Andrew and Westmoreland, five each in St James and Hanover, four in Clarendon, two in St Elizabeth, and one each in St Mary and Trelawny.
Meanwhile, there were two more COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, pushing the virus toll to 1,051.
The latest victims are both from St Thomas, a 58-year-old male and a 69-year-old female. Another death was also reported under investigation.
The ministry further reported 134 new recoveries, which pushed the total recoveries to 29,456. There are 19,039 active cases on the island.
