Stinga J, Jahvine party outside
Being under COVID-19 lockdown for months last year has made a lot of entertainers ring-rusty. Among them is the South Florida-based deejay duo of Stinga J and Jahvine, who welcome a return to the party scene with the song, We Outside .
Released in April, the single is produced by Worl Blast Music. Stinga J said the lyrics came naturally when he and Jahvine met face-to-face for the first in a long time.
“It had been a while since wi link up. Him come check mi an’ wi hold a vibe an’ dat’s how di song come about,” said Stinga J, who is in his ninth year as a recording artiste.
COVID-19 restrictions in South Florida last year saw the closure of beaches, sports bars and restaurants as state and federal measures were put in place to prevent spread of the virus.
In September, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reactivated the state’s economy by reopening bars and restaurants. Major Jamaican and West Indian events, which were cancelled in 2020, are making a comeback this year.
From the Maxfield Avenue area of Kingston, Stinga J is not keen on reliving a period of sustained isolation.
“It was hard for a lotta people, especially music people. It was frustrating but wi had to show precaution,” he said.
We Outside is the first collaboration between Stinga J and Jahvine who is from the Waltham Park region of Kingston.
