KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s two Under-20 Boys representatives, DeAndre Daley and Bouwahjgie Nkrumie both ran personal bests to qualify for this evening’s 100m final at the 49th CARIFTA Games at the National Stadium in Kingston.

All eight Jamaicans, two from each of the four sections, stayed in contention to win medals as they all qualified for the finals set to start at 7:45pm.

Daley, the CARIFTA Trials winner, looked supremely confident as he won his semis in 10.27 seconds (1.1m/s) while after Nkrumie eased through the finish line in 10.38 seconds (0.6m/s).

Zachary Evans of The Bahamas also looked impressive with 10.47 seconds, Jaiden Reid of the Cayman Islands ran 10.56 seconds while Trinidad and Tobago’s Revell Webster ran 10.56 seconds.

Both Clayton sisters will line up for the Girls Under-20 finals, with Tia winning her race in 11.63 seconds and Tina placing second in her race in 11.65 seconds, behind Guyana’s Keliza Smith who ran 11.55 seconds.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Shaniqua Bascombe led the qualifying with 11.50 seconds (0.6m/s) while Kishawna Niles of Barbados, 11.57 seconds and Paige Archer from The Bahamas were also through.

Jamaica’s Gary Card clocked 10.81 seconds (0.3m/s) to lead the Under-17 Boys qualifying, ahead of his teammate Shaquane Gordon – 10.92 seconds while St Vincent’s Keo Davis – 10.85 seconds, Ishmael Rolle of The Bahamas 10.93 seconds and Dwayne Flemming of Antigua -10.94 seconds were also impressive.

In the Under-17 Girls semis, the impressive Adaejah Hodge from the British Virgin Islands, maintained her dominance from the first round, streaking away from the pack in her race in 11.44 seconds (0.8m/s), while Jamaica’s Theianna-Lee Terrlonge, also won her race with some ease, running 11.73 seconds (0.4m/s)

Shatalya Dorsett of The Bahamas – 11.83 seconds, Naomi London of St Lucia and Jamaica’s Camoy Binger also ensured their places in the final.
