CARIFTA GAMES: All Jamaicans safely through to 200m finals
Kingston, Jamaica- Jamaica is set to add to its medal tally in the sprints on the third and final day of the 49th Carifta Games, after all eight athletes safely progressed to the 200-metre finals that re set to take place on Easter Monday.
On the girls’ side, the impressive Brianna Lyston and Kaylia Kelly, progressed to the Under-20 finals, following comfortable victories in their respective semi-finals.
Both Lyston and Kelly literally cruised to 23.93 and 23.99 seconds respectively, leaving much in reserve for the medal event.
Sabrina Dockery and Theianna Lee Terrelonge, will also contest the Under-17 200m final, after both progressed in contrasting manner.
Dockery was comfortable in victory in her semi-final, stopping the clock in 24.16 seconds, while Terrelonge eased to third in her semi-final in 24.80, behind favourite, Adaejah Hodge (23.74) of British Virgin Islands.
Meanwhile, Bryan Levell and Sandrey Davison set up what should be another one-two finish for Jamaica in the boys’ Under-20 event. Both showed class in winning their respective semi-final with Levell, clocking 21.02 seconds and Davison easing to 21.26.
In the Under-17 event, Marchino Rose and Rickoy Hunter clocked 22.17 and 22.48 seconds in winning their respective semi-final and securing their spot in the final.
