Any man who gets into a confrontation with a woman is an idiot, a fool, a jackass, for he simply cannot win. Even if he thinks that he wins, he’ll pay dearly for that indiscretion for many years to come. For the past few weeks I’ve been focusing on the plight of men as I revealed why many men don’t tell women that they love them, and also the weak observation of Happy Husbands Day.

Perhaps those were gestures on my part to bring to the surface what countless men are experiencing but have no voice, no outlet, no form of expression. After all, men haven’t got many weapons with which to defend themselves against women.

Women have so many tools at their disposal, most of which they use expertly, dexterously, skilfully. They can turn on the tears that flow like the Rio Grande, which will tug at the heartstrings of even the toughest man. They can rant and rave and scream at the top of their vocal range, which most men will not do, and most egregiously, they can withhold sex.

Ah yes, the ultimate weapon in the woman’s arsenal, the weapon of man’s destruction, that old game of sexual starvation. Then they can deprive the man seeing his children, which happens with more frequency than you would imagine. And then they can lie about abuse.

What has the man got to defend himself with, how can he retaliate in this female-centric world where the laws are stacked in favour of the woman? We’ll find out right after these non retaliatory responses to why ‘Men don’t show love’.

Back in the day, women were attracted to men who were considered to be ‘macho’, virile, tough. Men who strut about acting tough and would never show love to their women. Nowadays the macho man has gone the way of the disco, no more open shirt unbuttoned to the waist, displaying a hairy chest with gold chains. Women don’t go for that stuff anymore. They are now into men who show love and intimacy, and who show their feelings.

Men don’t show love or verbalise it because many women see it as a sign of weakness. When they know that the man loves them, they use it as a licence to take him for granted and walk all over him. I once told a woman that I loved her and she laughed in my face, telling me that she’s looking for someone better, then walked away saying, “Who could love you?!” Never again.

Women can do so many things to men and get away with it. For some reason, they have the sympathy and ears of the courts, their friends, and society in general. They can harass and abuse the man for years, and if he dares to retaliate, he’s the one who gets vilified and ends up in jail for doing so.

I saw a local video of a schoolgirl taunting and slapping up a schoolboy mercilessly while he stood there and took it, refusing to retaliate. When he couldn’t take her unending assault anymore, he unleashed a fury upon her that sent her reeling.

Two things struck me from that video: one, the fearless violent assault by that girl upon the boy. Where did she learn that, from watching her mother beat her father? And second, the prolonged restraint by the boy who refused to retaliate in spite of the taunting of his classmates. Eventually he snapped.

Violence is wrong, and I’m sure that afterwards he was the one who felt the full force of the authorities for assaulting a girl. After all, ‘boys are not supposed to hit girls’. If you saw that girl pummelling that boy you may have second thoughts about that.

So many men have to suffer in silence while women abuse them physically, emotionally and mentally… and they cannot retaliate, for if they do, they are wrong. Right now there’s a big case going on in the USA between actor Johnny Depp and his wife Amber Heard. It’s a sad tale of mental, physical, and emotional abuse allegedly from both sides.

It’s a situation of he said, she said, and just hearing the stories from both parties who supposedly once loved each other is so sad. I’m pretty sure that many people will more than likely lean towards what she said, for after all, he’s a man and men should take whatever is hurled at them.

But if you listen keenly to what he said as he related the history of his mother abusing him as a child, and now experiencing it again in his marriage, you’ll realise that his story has credence. He stated, “I saw the abuse from my mother manifested in my wife all over again.” He also said that his wife threw a bottle of wine at him that shattered and severed the tip of his finger, resulting in him ending up in the hospital. The court was shown the pictures.

I’m sure that she has her stories also. But how do men retaliate to that onslaught? What can they do to counter the barrage of abuse from women who have so many weapons at their disposal?

Surely the man can’t turn on the tears and weep before her? Women have no sympathy for weak men. She’d let loose a barrage of insults and ridicule.

“What yuh bawling like cow for, big man like you?”

Clearly that won’t work. Neither is trying to match her in the shouting and screaming department. Have you ever heard a banshee wail, a siren blaring, a car alarm going off at night without stopping, a cockatiel chattering non-stop with a cacophonous cackle, a factory kachee blowing? That’s what happens when a woman decides to turn up the decibels and break the sound barrier. No man can match that, but he can retaliate with silence. Ah yes, golden silence that brings peace to the assaulted ear.

The more that she cackles and screams, the more silent the man gets.

“Is 10 years now I live beside them and I never hear his voice yet, only hers.”

If silence doesn’t work, then he can try the next of kin — absence. They say that absence makes the heart fonder, but the question is, fonder for whom?

Some men retaliate by just taking away themselves, leave the area, vacate the premises, get the hell out of Dodge City, as Marshall Dillon would say. It’s a retaliatory tool that men have used effectively, some with great success.

“Man, when she start her ruckuss, is north coast I head to for the weekend.”

Other men who can’t afford that option of a weekend jaunt simply hide away in a dimly lit corner bar or club, far from the maddening crowd. Is that why so many of those joints have names like “Millie’s Hideaway”, “Keisha’s chill spot”, “Sheila’s Dark Corner”?

They all seem to offer some sort of refuge for men who seek to escape from an impending storm. Now, as I mentioned earlier, women can use sex as a means of emotional warfare for which the man has no answer. But does he?

Can a man retaliate against that type of warfare that women use — sexual deprivation? My good bredrin told me yes. He says that you have to fight fire with fire.

“She deprive me of sex, I get sex elsewhere, preferably from her friend.”

Wow! That seems like an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which is the mother of modern warfare.

“All’s fair in love and war, and this is war. I can’t just siddung so and take what she dish out without retaliate,” he continued.

Well, to each his own, but if a woman is going to withhold sex from her man because of spite, or whatever reason, he can’t very well take it by force, for that’s assault, and like I said, he’d be in the wrong. But he can retaliate by getting that sex from a different source.

There are men who have even tried to retaliate by withholding sex from their women, but that’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face, or in this case, cutting off your penis to spite her vagina. Plus, many women don’t seem to mind and are actually relieved.

“At last him stop pestering me every night.”

It’s such a mismatch. Men have so few weapons to defend themselves with, so few armaments and very little ammunition. But whatever they have, they must find some way to retaliate without getting physical.

Footnote: Vox Populi Dei. Latin for ‘The voice of the people is the voice of God,’ and that seems to be true in many instances. Case in point is the public’s response to the new relaxation of the COVID measures. What is interesting is that despite the relaxation of the measures by the authorities, the public in general still maintains the protocols. Even though many people were at first resistant to mask-wearing, they are now the same ones who insist on wearing masks. The common thought is that COVID is still here and didn’t just disappear overnight. Sometimes the common man has great common sense. Vox populi, the voice of the people should not be ignored.
