UTech students to get ‘Magnified’
‘MEDIA Magnified: Looking Through The Lens Of The Creative’, an exhibition by final-year students in the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts & Technology (BACAT) programme at the University of Technology, is slated for that Corporate Area-based campus on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
“The media exhibition is an annual proceeding which showcases the works of the students for an international audience. As a student-coordinated exhibition event not only has it been an exciting experience for them getting this project off the ground, but they have learnt so much from the experience and I am looking forward to what they are able to produce. You can expect a wide array of items, including a presentation from the incredible guest speaker Debbie Bissoon and other prolific practitioners in the field,” Joshua Paul, lecturer in the BACAT programme who is guiding the students in producing Media Magnified, told the Jamaica Observer.
Media Magnified will also feature media practitioners including Orane Hart, host of the YouTube series Nightly Fix; Talia Soares, host of Intense on TVJ; Tashara-Lee Johnson, CEO at The Limners and Bards Limited advertising agency (The Lab); and Kadeen Brown, social media executive at Digicel Jamaica.
The event will showcase the skills and talents of the final-year students through print, broadcast, digital media, audio-visual, film productions and other multimedia formats, in addition to campaign executions. Additionally, the BACAT Poetry and Art Show, showcasing stylised photos and riveting poems, will also be incorporated.
The occasion will be streamed via UTech’s YouTube channel (@utechjamaica) or patrons can register for the Zoom event at https://rb.gy/bxuevf.
The BACAT programme at UTech offers a four-year undergraduate degree which equips students with a diverse suite of communication skills including web design, writing, audio engineering, oral presentation, marketing and advertising.
