Thompson-Herah wins 200m at Jubilee meet
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Double-Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah won the women’s 200m at Saturday’s second JAAA/SDF Jubilee meet at the National Stadium, running 22.75 seconds (-0.6m/s), easing through the finish line.
Thompson-Herah ran a brilliant curve, coming into the home stretch well ahead of the rest of the field before slowing down noticeably with about 30 metres to go.
Stephenie-Ann McPherson was second in 23.16 seconds and Natasha Morrison third in 23.52 seconds.
Meanwhile, European champion Zharnel Hughes won the men’s 200m, running 20.56 seconds (-0.7m/s), beating Racers TC training partner Antonio Watson-20.86 seconds while Jazeel Murphy of Titans TC was third in 21.28 seconds.
Meanwhile, Orlando Bennett won the 110m hurdles with 13.71 seconds (-1.4m/s), beating Rohan Cole (14.10 seconds) and Akeem Cargill of MVP with14.36 seconds.
