The Seeking My Dream Trophy, a three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance contest at 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) honouring the former Derby and two Diamond Mile winner, takes centre stage at Caymanas Park on Sunday, May 22, 2002.

The $1.2-million event sees the return of Horse of the Year Further and Beyond, who is looking to rebound after a wayward performance in The Viceroy Trophy.

Below is the analysis of the eight nominated horses in pole position order.

1. I AM FRED (USA): (4 b g by Golden Lad – Happy Hailey) – I Am Fred was an impressive nine-length winner over one mile on April 30. I Am Fred now comes up against stiffer opponents but gets a pull of four lbs in the weights, which should aid his cause of earning a spot on the board. This US bred gelding is made significant gains at this time and it would not be surprising if he upends all before him.

2. RUNAWAY ALGO (USA): (3 ch c by Algorithms – Misunify) – Improving foreigner who defeated Mahogany by 1 1/4 lengths in the recent Easter Sprint run over 5 ½ furlongs when he entered Overnight for the first occasion. Runaway Algo should not be bothered by the extended trip on Sunday and is primed to give his best against the best. For this his first encounter at the Open Allowance, Runaway Algo has to taken seriously. This is his toughest run to date,

3. CRIMSON: (6 b g by Nuclear Wayne – Sarah Barracuda) – Will be well held by these younger rivals.

4. I’VE GOT MAGIC: (4 b c by Fast Anna – Lil Miss Richie) – This foreigner has been holding his own in this grade while improving with every run, but again he will play second fiddle to his stablemate. Will, however, play a prominent part in this race, as his early speed will provide the impetus needed by Excessive Force. Best finishing position is a placing one.

5. EXCESSIVE FORCE (USA): (5 ch h by Broken Vow – Fevered Kiss) – Two wins from two starts both in impressive fashion has brought the once troublesome Excessive Force close to the top of the pile. For this race, Excessive Force has gone up substantially in the weights but is in such good form nat the moment, the possibility of repeating is far from being remote. To do so, Excessive Force will have to put every hoof right, and he cannot misbehave and go wide as he has done in previous races.

6. GENERATIONAL: (5 ch g by Fearless Vision – Electrifying) – Has no chance of winning.

7. FURTHER AND BEYOND: (4 ch c by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Further and Beyond finished fourth in the The Viceroy Trophy won by Excessive Force. Then Further and Beyond allowed all lumps of weight but on Sunday, the recent conquerors of the Horse of the Year are slapped with heavy increases in weight, giving him an edge in the handicaps. Based on this weight difference, Further and Beyond has the opportunity to re-establish his dominance at this level. Of note, is that jockey Linton Steadman in reunited with Further and Beyond replacing Robert Halledeen.

8. RACE CAR (USA): (5 gr/rn h by Race Day – Mcduffie) – Slowly coming into his own. Race Car’s last two runs were par efforts but he is capable and should run a good race without winning.
