SO2 – Kaci Fennell for Camp Luxe

First Things First…

Glamping is, as they say, camping but with electricity, wine and less dirt. Glamping in other words is camping done fabulously! You might have heard of glamping aka glamorous camping or as some would call it luxury camping which has become a growing trend in places like the UK, USA, Canada, Thailand and even as far as Dubai! Glampers are, like SO2 readers, people who prefer contact with nature and local experiences without giving up comfort or luxury. And who better than An Elegant Affair Event Management, helmed by the mother-daughter duo of Karen and Khloe Clarke, to grasp this concept and curate The Rock’s first ever premium glamping experience Camp Luxe?!

Our suggestion is to make a note of the dates June 10-12 2022

Venue: Frenchman’s Cove, Portland

NB: The Camp Luxe Experience Weekend is only accessible to Luxers as Frenchman’s Cove will be closed to the general public.

Supporting partners: Mastercard and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF)

Deja Vu is the official Camp Luxe boutique.

Canadian actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who stars in the Netflix drama series Never Have I Ever, turns up the fab factor in the Vincenzo dress from Greta Constantine’s Resort 22 collection. Ramakrishnan stepped out in the label to accept the Radius Award from the Canadian Academy last month.

Greta Constantine is a collection of ready-to-wear womenswear pieces based in Toronto, Canada. The label is helmed by Jamaican-Canadian designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong.

American rapper Megan Thee Stallion is haute and fab in the fur stole from Jamaican-blooded accessory designer Brandon Blackwood. The rapper styled the piece — a standout of the label’s Fall 2022 collection — with a black ‘fit and a Chanel handbag.

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy covers Billboard magazine’s May issue in the Kurt Angle Shirt and Benz Trousers from British menswear designer Bianca Saunders. The Ye singer also rocks the label’s desert orange Forward Pants and Marley Jacket inside the mag. Bianca Saunders, who is the cousin of Rock-blooded supermodel Naomi Campbell, launched her eponymous label in 2017, following her graduation from The Royal College of Art. The designer pushes against gender norms and investigates unusual construction to propose fresh ideas for menswear. Both her Caribbean roots and her signature cutting — which captures movement in clothes — have been the base of her collections.

Grecian handmade jewellery brand Katerina Vassou has snagged Saint International model Naki Depass to introduce Périple, the label’s Spring/Summer 2022 Collection. Depass was lensed by Grecian freelancer Marili Zarkou and styled by Elena Defigou for the campaign.

The first collection of Katerina Vassou jewellery was introduced in 2004. Every collection since then has featured handmade unique creations with semi-precious stones and crystals from Swarovski. The success of the collections, and the need for new jewellery trends worldwide, led to the international expansion of the brand in more than 30 countries, along with four exclusive stores in Athens, Greece.
