Proposed Dreams Resort is on 4 acres, not 2
Dear Editor,
The article appearing in the Jamaica Observer of June 1 titled ‘Nightmare’ has a significant error which I would respectfully ask that you correct for the record.
The Dreams Resort development, as proposed, will house 281 rooms on four acres, not two acres as was said twice by interviewees in the article. This correction is essential for readers to envision how the dimensions of the hotel will comfortably work in the space in which it will be built.
Please also permit me to say that Seawind Key Investments Limited is a thoughtful developer and long-term owner that takes pride in its work and legacy. By referencing our track record, the public can have confidence in what we are proposing for the Dreams development.
In our 12 short years as a Jamaican company we have been able to raise the bar for Jamaican hotel design and operations (via partners AMR), as evidenced by the acclaimed Breathless Hotel and Secrets Resorts Montego Bay. These resorts have been among Jamaica’s best performers in the luxury hotel segment since opening. We intend no different for our new development.
Regrettably, we are not able to respond to all claims made in the press as we would like since we are engaged in a planning application process with the National Environment and Planning Agency. We trust the authority to communicate effectively with all stakeholders during the process.
We can, however, say that we respect our neighbours’ concerns, many of which have to do with how infrastructure is planned and managed by our State agencies.
We continue to address the issues in our purview, both in dialogue with members of the Freeport community and with the authorities responsible for the planning approval process.
