Sotheby’s grows Jamaican listings
In less than a year since opening the managment of Sotheby’s Real Estate says its Jamaican unit has managed to accumulate a series of exclusive listings and closed on a number of multimillion-dollar transactions.
The luxury auction and realty brand Sotheby’s International opened shop in the island in the final quarter of 2021. The international brand operates in over 74 countries and territories and claims US$150 billion in real estate sales and rentals each year.
Sotheby’s, which prides itself on selling to the rich, indicated that the company has landed exclusive properties including a resort listing for Samsara and Legends Resort among other upmarket listings.
The Samsara and Legends Resorts are ‘sister’ hotels sitting on approximately 6.5 acres on the West End in Negril.
The hotels are turnkey operations with 119 hotel rooms and features four restaurants offering local and international cuisines.
CEO Julian Dixon states that Sotheby’s now has the most resort listings in Jamaica. She stated in a company release this week, “We knew there was a need in the market; however, we never anticipated this type of response to our brand and expertise. We are appreciative of the support,” Dixon said.
She added, “Sotheby’s currently has over 80 listings in all which includes resort listings. In less than a year we have completed several multimillion-dollar transactions.”
In April, Sotheby’s had been engaged by FirstRock Capital to market and sell its properties at Hambani Estate.
Dixon shared how the firm was able to get an immediate sale on opening day. Hambani Estates is a low-density, multi-family development consisting of 12 single-family residences of 8,000+ square feet, priced at US$1.8million-US$2 million each on its subdivided quarter-acre lot on Bamboo Avenue.
